Why use hand tools?
Hand tools are used for four main reasons which are as follows:
- Easy to operate:- hand tools are easy to operate especially when compared to more complex machines
- Easy to carry around :- hand tools by design and definition are operated with the hand and must be maneuvered the hand. It is for this reason that hand tools are easy to carry around
- Cheap :- hand tools in general are cheaper than machines
- Quality of work :- hand tools in general produce quality work in most instances
How can we group hand tools ?

Line Types
Types Of Lines
Lines are used in technical drawing as means of comunicating ideas and or information. The selection or rather choice of lines is very critical in the tranmission of information to the person interpreting the drawing. For example centre lines indicate the location of centre lines used to construct circles and or arcs.
There are seven main types of lines
- Continuous (thick lines): theses are lines which are used to indicate the visible areas of adrawing or the edge
- Shortdash (thin lines): these are hidden outline oredge which is not visible fron the given view an eaxmple of this is hole in acylinder will not be visible from the front view
- Continous (thin lines) : these are lines which are primerily used to indicate dimensions of objects and hactch area as is the case in sectional details and trucated solids
- Contious irregular (thin lines): these are limits of partial views when the view or sectrion is not an axis
- Chain (thin line) : these are centre lines, extreme positions of moving parts
- Chain (cutting lines) these indicate cutting planes and are have arrows at the end to indicat the direction of cut to be made.
- Chain (thich) these are lines that indicate that a surface has meet specification or requirements as is the case Floor levels of elevation
- dimension lines : thses are lines that indicate measurement of a given line / object and has arrow at both ends which fall between extention(continous thin lines)
